New ‘Alien’ Movie Coming to Hulu Starring ‘Evil Dead’ Director Fede Alvarez and Ridley Scott

Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise is one of the best sci-fi out there. Few franchises get the superior treatment of living across five different decades. Alien has done this before and it looks like it will continue. But there’s a new Alien movie coming to Hulu and Fede Alvarez will be directing it.

Ridley Scott began the Alien franchise prequels with Prometheus. Depending on who you talk to, the movie was a huge hit. Some fans were quite annoyed that Alien’s famed Xenomorph wasn’t involved with Prometheus at all. But the movie set up a nice foundation and a nice story that gives the Xenomorph even more terror.

Then Scott continued his prequel series with Alien: Covenant. This movie received even more mixed reviews and had fans wondering what the hell Ridley was up to. The plan, allegedly, was to make three prequel movies. These would go straight to the original Alien movie and the planet LV-426. Commitment came out in 2017 and the chances of it continuing are less likely than ever. With HBO Max’s hit Sci-Fi series Raised by Wolves – which Ridley Scott is producing – and news of a new Alien movie it’s connected to, a final prequel movie doesn’t seem practical.

An ‘alien’ movie from ‘Evil Dead’ director Fede Alvarez

It doesn’t matter who signs on to direct a new Alien movie as long as Ridley Scott produces it. That being said, they have chosen quite a mind to take the reins here. Fede Alvarez is best known for directing the 2013 remake of “Evil Dead” and 2016’s “Don’t Breath.” Alvarez’s emphasis on a bloodier, more shocking remake of a classic in “Evil Dead” is which earned him this opportunity.

He is also a rabid fan of the Alien movies and 20th Century Fox greenlighted the project “purely because of his talk” according to the Hollywood journalist.

No one will ask Alvarez to remake one of the most iconic sci-fi movies of all time. The guy who made it himself definitely won’t. But he has the opportunity to put on his new vision like he did before and that’s exciting.
