A fund launched in Guernsey is the first publicly traded venture capital fund of funds in the UK.
SuperSeed Capital Limited, a listed feeder fund structure, is listed on the Aquis Stock Exchange Growth Market (AQSE). It will initially invest as a limited partner of SuperSeed II LP, a fund managed by SuperSeed Ventures LLP, which is also the investment manager of SuperSeed Capital Limited.
SuperSeed Capital Limited’s listing gives public market investors exposure to UK early-stage technology companies through venture capital investments, which has traditionally been reserved for professional or high net worth investors.
Carey Olsen’s corporate team in Guernsey advised Guernsey on the legal and regulatory aspects of its formation as a Guernsey-domiciled closed-end registered fund.
Tony Lane, Partner at Carey Olsen, said: “This is the first Guernsey company and investment fund to list on AQSE, but we have been extremely impressed with the betting opportunities on the market that AQSE offers and we are excited about the prospect of future quotes in the growth market.
“Our involvement in such a remarkable transaction on the AQSE demonstrates both Carey Olsen’s extensive capital markets expertise and Guernsey’s continued attractiveness as a home for innovative listed funds of this nature.”
Created in 2012, the AQSE is an exchange offering primary and secondary markets for equity and debt products.
