Florence Schools Hire New Principal

The Florence Unified School District has hired a new Director of Exceptional Student Services – and he’s a former FUSD student.

Eric Turner attended middle school and high school in Florence and said he was excited to return to his roots, according to a press release from FUSD.

For the past 27 years, Turner has worked in special education in several districts in Arizona. He served as Vice Principal and Principal of Mesa Public Schools, Assistant. principal of the Tucson Unified School District and special education teacher for 16 years.

“I welcome Mr. Eric Turner to his FUSD roots. Our staff are eager to begin collaborating with him to discover ways to connect with our exceptional students,” FUSD Superintendent Chris Knutsen said in the release. “His leadership will provide students, staff, and families with strategies and helpful tools necessary for academic and social success. at FUSD and in their future.

Turner earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as her senior certificate, from the University of Arizona.

Turner believes in helping children grow into confident and capable members of society by inspiring and empowering their lives, so that they are enthusiastic and motivated to learn.

Turner has a wife and three adult children, two of whom graduated from Poston Butte High School. In his spare time, Turner enjoys camping and attending sporting events.
