Icon Group selected Macquarie, its long-term telecommunications and networking provider, to facilitate migration to an Azure environment and provide ongoing architecture, network, security and power reviews. Mark said the team’s expertise was crucial in ensuring the migration ran smoothly despite the ongoing covid lockdown periods, which meant designing, delivering and managing remotely.

“Macquarie experts advised rolling out the migration over two timeframes. The first included services we had hosted on our cloud platform ‘Launch’ to the more scalable Azure, which falls under the purview of the TGA and requires a specific access for audit.The second track needed to work within a tight two-month timeframe, as it contained workloads supporting pharmacy dispensing that were subject to external regulatory changes.

“Macquarie was able to work quickly to deliver these services and set them up in an automated fashion. This allowed us to maintain that pace and complete the project in a compressed timeframe.”

Developing technical expertise as industry tackles skills shortages

Mark went on to say that Icon’s experience with Macquarie has also helped develop in-house technical talent and leverage trusted expertise in the cloud space and beyond, both crucial considerations in the current Australian climate. of shortage of technical skills.
