ACC sues ex-head of International Leasing for concealment of wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a complaint against a former director of International Leasing and Financial Services Ltd for acquiring illegal assets and concealing information about his wealth.
ACC Deputy Director, Taposh Kanti Bala filed a complaint against Nasim Anwar at ACC Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1 on Sunday, August 28.
According to the case statement, defendant Nasim Anwar submitted a wealth statement of Tk 5.21 crore to the ACC on August 12.
After investigation, the commission found that the former director of International Leasing concealed information regarding more than 1.12 crore of Tk in the statement.
The anti-corruption watchdog has filed a complaint against Nasim Anwar for committing a punishable offense by acquiring assets beyond the known source of income and concealing information in his asset declaration.
The embezzlement allegation against former company director PK Halder surfaced after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched an investigation into the wealth of illegal casino owners in 2019.
Halder and his accomplices embezzled around Tk 3,500 crore from International Leasing.
